Getting in

Coron has more airlines from the two main hubs. OAG data reported by FlyTeam, Oct 2026, lists three airlines on both Clark to Busuanga and Cebu to Busuanga, against Cebgo alone on Clark to El Nido. Coron also has the weekly 2GO ship from Manila.

El Nido's advantage is the road. A traveler landing in Puerto Princesa, which has the most flights in Palawan, can reach El Nido by shared van in about 5 hours; Coron needs a boat or a plane from anywhere. Full options are on How to get to Palawan and How to get to Coron.

Tours and fees

The two shared tours in the table are each town's standard first day out, and the fee setups differ.

In El Nido, Tour A was PHP 1,500 per person at El Nido Paradise, with lunch, water, mask and snorkel. On top of that the operator lists the PHP 400 eco-tourism fee (paid to the Tourism Office) and a PHP 200 environmental user fee for Big or Small Lagoon, paid to DENR. In Coron, the Super Ultimate shared tour covers Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake and Twin Lagoon in one day. Experience Coron Travel & Tours listed it at PHP 1,900 with entrance fees, pickup and lunch included. Travel Palawan listed its version from PHP 2,470 per adult, with pickup, lunch and a guide, and does not say whether lake fees are included. For reference, Van Hire Palawan reports Kayangan Lake at PHP 300 and Twin Lagoon and Barracuda Lake at PHP 200 each, Oct 2026, and the municipal environmental fee of about PHP 200 is collected at Busuanga Airport. Season note

PAGASA's calendar has a rainy season from June to November and a dry season from December to May. Both towns depend on boat tours, and Coast Guard suspensions affect both, so the season choice is the same for either base. See Best time to visit Palawan.

Should I visit El Nido or Coron?

Coron is easier to fly into from Clark and Cebu, and El Nido is the one you can reach by van from Puerto Princesa. The sites differ too: El Nido's best-known tour is built around lagoons and beaches, Coron's around lakes on Coron Island.

Is Coron or El Nido cheaper?

For a first tour day they come out close: El Nido's Tour A at PHP 1,500 plus PHP 600 in fees, against Coron's Super Ultimate at PHP 1,900 with lake fees included plus the PHP 200 town fee (Oct 2026 listings). We did not compare hotel prices.

Is El Nido or Coron better?

Published data does not pick a winner. Choose by which airport fits your flights and which sites you want to see. The two are also easy to combine, linked by a 3.5 to 4 hour ferry.
